Not Just a Roll With A Hole by Steven Feagler

The cat's out of the bag! Or, should we say 'the bagel's out of the bag'? The iconic, community loved, BagelWorks, is up for sale. Initially, we kept it (the name of the business) under wraps so as not to alarm anyone and keep things 'business as usual'. Our biggest hope in doing so was that an uneventful transaction would take place and whomever purchased the business wouldn't change a thing. Because, well, we love the place exactly how it is. We're not alone here, either. After all, it's been open for 26 years! Last year, for it's 25th anniversary, the folks at Gallatin Valley Life wrote up a nice little article about the beloved BagelWorks...

BagelWorks, Celebrating 25 Years Serving The Gallatin Valley

by Steven Feagler
In Bozeman, there are always a plethora of new restaurants opening their doors, while many others shut off the lights for the last time. Surviving the first year as a restaurant is no easy task; continuing a twenty-five year legacy is a true testament to a restaurant's food, customers, and staff. When BagelWorks Founder Amelia Cain-Kerscher and Gary Dipaolo first came to Bozeman, they filled a hole where Bozeman was lacking, opening the town's first bagel shop.
Twenty-five years later, Bagelworks continues to serve Bozeman with New-York Style bagels, boiled every morning at the crack of dawn, along with a variety of cream cheese which are made fresh in-house.
Owner Mike Kerscher attributes a large amount of Bagelworks' success and longevity to the customers who make the shop what it is today. While many restaurants are quick to begin servicing their niche, Bagelworks is unique in that it has always enjoyed a wide array of patrons who keep the business lively. From students to families, Bagelworks in supported by a loyal customer base in the community, as well newcomers to Bozeman, and travelers passing through.
In addition to its vibrant customer base, Bagelworks' success is attributed to its fast-paced and upbeat staff, who serve as the foundation in keeping fresh rolls on the shelfs. The shop's dynamic atmosphere has been the result of multiple managers who are passionate about continuing an efficient, upbeat, and friendly operation, which is focused on quality food and customer service.
Even with an assortment of mouthwatering New-York style bagels, running a restaurant is no easy task. From the customers who never cease to add variety to the shop, to the employees who provide friendly service, the owners of Bagelworks are grateful for everyone who makes their bagels special, and not just a roll with a hole.

After the initial shock wears off, the big question from most folks is 'why'? The answer is pretty simple. The owner is ready to retire. That's it. Who can blame the guy?
So help us find a buyer! Spread the word! Know anyone who's pondered starting their own business? Know any entrepreneurs? Do YOU want to "be your own boss"? This kind of opportunity is pretty rare.
